- I teach elementary in Canon City, where I have worked for the last 15 years. I have been married to the same wonderful man for 28 years; we have two children. Our daughter will soon earn her degree in biology and our son is a secondary education major.
I love working with children, helping them discover, name, and build on their understandings of the world around them. There is nothing more rewarding then to watch them leave to the next grade level, knowing they have all the skills they need to be successful. Those skills include:
Foundational grade level content knowledge
Understanding self as a learner
Posing problems and questioning
Finding solutions
Having compassion and empathy for others
Organization for preparedness, productivity, and promptness
Positive mental attitude and the ability to make quality choices
Understanding mistakes are learning opportunities
