Just wondering about something here. I have been forcing back the idea to induce a comma for myself. I have had my class taking some of the state practice reading tests. Now in years past, all I had to do was clap my hands, blink my eyes, and like magic, my classes would excel, and try their best. My classes scores have been like a roller coaster up and down, I think a couple of times when the roller coaster would go upside down, I'd drop a couple too. This week however I changed my plans, sharpened my fangs and put some bite on their practice tests. I scored them, and invited students who scored 80% or higher the option of not taking anymore of the tests in that section. Thankfully in each group there were a couple of kids who scored 100%. As I discussed being competitive, many wanted to score higher, to "beat" those who scored 100%. As a result, their scores have been climbing. My question or idea is what do you do. What have you found that works. My hope is we can come up with a few ideas to keep teachers from going crazy during this time.
